An Introductory Lecture on Euler Systems

چکیده
The purpose of these notes is to describe the notion of an Euler system, a collection of compatible cohomology classes arising from a tower of fields that can be used to bound the size of Selmer groups. There are applications to the study of the ideal class group, Iwasawa’s main conjecture, Mordell-Weil group of an elliptic curve, X (the Safarevich-Tate group), Birch-Swinnerton-Dyer conjecture, and a study of the p-adic main conjecture for elliptic curves. For a reference, consult [R 1], the bibliography there, and also [R 2].

Comparison of Introductory Program with Multimedia Cardiac Surgery Process and Lecture Method on Hemodynamic Indicators of Candidate Cardiac Surgery Patients in a Selected Military Hospital
Introduction: Cardiac surgery is an unpleasant and unfamiliar experience for patients that can affect hemodynamic parameters by psychological factors. Lecture and multimedia training can reduce the impact of these factors on the indicators. Objective: This study aimed to determine and compare the effect of multimedia education and lecture on hemodynamic indices of patients candidates for ...
متن کاملThe Effectiveness of Computer-Assisted Instruction in Teaching Introductory Statistics
The focus of this study is to demonstrate and discuss the educational advantages of Computer Assisted Instruction (CAI). A quasi-experimental design compared learning outcomes of participants in an introductory statistics course that integrated CAI to participants in a Lecture-only introductory statistics course. Reviews of participants’ identical midterm and final exams scores demonstrated tha...
متن کاملControl of Weakly Damped Finite and Infinite Dimensional Euler-lagrange Systems
This contribution presents the control of a certain kind of mechanical systems based on energy considerations. The plants under investigation are underactuated lumped and distributed parameter systems, which consist of two masses and an elastic element. After a brief introduction of the used mathematical objects, the proposed controller design method is applied to a simple introductory example ...
متن کاملIntroductory Lecture Acoustic interactions from FaradayÏs crispations to MEMS
In an 1831 paper, Michael Faraday described observations of the interaction of a vibrating solid with a liquid supported by the solid. The motions induced on the surface of the liquid, which he termed crispations, resulted from the creation of capillary waves, which are still a subject of research. The contributions to the present Faraday Discussion concern chieÑy the use of piezoelectric cryst...
متن کاملBenefits of Electronic Audience Response Systems on Student Participation, Learning, and Emotion
We compared an electronic audience response system (clickers) to standard lecture, hand-raising, and response card methods of student feedback in simulated introductory psychology classes. After hearing the same 30-min psychology lecture, participants in the clicker group had the highest classroom participation, followed by the response card group, both of which were significantly higher than t...
